The Nairobi-Nakuru highway was temporarily closed after locals in the area protested over rise in number of accidents happening along the route.
Locals barricaded the busy road carrying placards as they protested over frequent road accidents; paralyzing transport along the busy highway.
In a span of a month, more than seven people have died in accidents along the route while several others left nursing serious injuries.
Following this, residents have urged the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) to erect rumble strips or speed bumps to avert loss of lives.
“We want the authorities to address this issue. We have lost our loved ones to road accidents. It is high time the relevant stakeholders move with speed,” protesters said.
