Tuko News Editor Fined ksh 50,000 for Misreporting NYS Case

Tuko news editor has been jailed  for six months or asked to pay a fine of ksh 50,000 for misreporting and publishing a story over the NYS case.

Magistrate Eunice Nyutu said that the sentence will serve as a warning to other Journalists against misreporting.

The Tuko editor was summoned to appear in court today after the prosecution told the court that it published a story that tainted the witness.

The editor apologized to the court and told the court that they pulled down the article.

The Magistrate Eunice Nyutu insisted that publishing a defamatory story is punishable by law.
