Joshua Kipchumba earned Kenya’s first medal at the World Masters Athletics Championships ongoing in Gothenburg, Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 55-year-old Kipchumba clinched silver in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:27.45 on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kipchumba’s performance saw him narrowly edged out by Pascal Ruiz of France, who secured the gold with a time of 10:26.54 while Spanish athlete Juan Prieto rounded out the podium with a bronze medal after finishing in third place

Joshua Kipchumba remains optimistic about his prospects in the men\u2019s 800m and 1500m events, which are yet to come.<\/p>\n\n\n

“It has been a long time since I last competed in this event. I am grateful to God for the position I achieved, as I was expecting to finish around fourth or fifth. I am hopeful to perform better in upcoming competitions,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
