Schools are slated to reopen for the third term on Monday, August 26. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A trio of unions were meeting with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Wednesday, August 21, to resolve the impasse, but their efforts hit a snag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the unions turned down the employer’s offer, the negotiations between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the teachers’ unions came to a chaotic conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n

The strike that was supposed to start on Monday of next week is still scheduled, according to representatives of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), notwithstanding the impasse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TSC failed to satisfy the other demands of the unions during the negotiations at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete, but it did propose to implement Phase II of the 2021\u20132025 collective bargaining agreement (CBA).To prevent the strike, the TSC sent an invitation to the unions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The instructors counter that the CBA was already in effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
