When granting them the release on Thursday, Magistrate Martha Nanzushi stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) request for a 14-day detention was not justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The five; Corporal Ronald Babo and cosntables Evans Kipkirui, Mollent Achieng, Zachary Nyabuto and Gerald Mutuku; will now be required to report twice weekly before the DCI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police had told the court that investigations against the five officers were not complete adding that the 14 days would allow them to complete the investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The other 12 escapees alongside Jumaisi were held over illegal immigration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a police report, the 13 fled after cutting the wire mesh at the station\u2019s basking bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the incident, acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli promised a thorough investigation into the matter, speculating it could be \u201can inside job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
