{"id":2953,"date":"2024-09-18T18:09:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T18:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cradior.com\/?p=2953"},"modified":"2024-09-18T18:09:05","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T18:09:05","slug":"unrefined-oil-spilt-after-cargo-train-derails-at-kibwezi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cradior.com\/?p=2953","title":{"rendered":"Unrefined Oil Spilt after  Cargo Train Derails at Kibwezi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Unestablished quantities of unrefined oil were on Tuesday noon spilled after a freight train lost control and derailed at the Kibwezi Area within Makueni County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The train which was en route to Nairobi from Mombasa veered off rail before rolling over, leading to the spillage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon noticing the accident, locals carrying jerricans rushed to the scene and began siphoning the oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, police officers quickly intervened and sealed off the area to block any contamination and interference with the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cradior.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-2024-09-18T144438.539.png\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><br>No causalities were reported from the incident with police officers cordoning the scene to pave the way for investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the area residents were captured watching the events from a distance even as police officers attempted to get the train back on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not the first time that a cargo train has derailed in Kenya while transporting unrefined oil.
