Doha, August 18, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 A Qatari official confirmed on Sunday that a draft peace agreement<\/strong> aimed at ending the ongoing fighting between Sudan\u2019s army and rebel forces has been shared with both sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to reporters in Doha, the official said the document represents \u201ca significant step forward\u201d in efforts to resolve the bloody conflict that has crippled Sudan for more than a year. While details of the draft were not disclosed, the official noted that it reflects \u201cmonths of consultations and negotiations facilitated by Qatar and international partners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fighting, which erupted in April 2023, has displaced millions and triggered a severe humanitarian crisis. Recent mediation efforts by regional and international actors have been met with both hope and skepticism, as earlier ceasefires have repeatedly collapsed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar has positioned itself as a mediator, working alongside the African Union, the United Nations, and neighboring states. The draft agreement is now in the hands of Sudan\u2019s army leadership<\/strong> and rebel representatives<\/strong>, who are expected to review and respond in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
