Peruvian authorities conducted a raid on President Dina Boluarte’s residence on Saturday as part of an ongoing corruption probe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a police document that AFP was able to access, about forty officials were part in the raid, which was looking for Rolex watches that Boluarte had not declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tv footage showed the team using a sledgehammer to carry out the raid at Dina’s residence in the capital Lima.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ms Boluarte initially claimed ownership of at least one Rolex as a long-held possession acquired through “personal gains” since she was 18, urging the media not to look into personal matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But attorney general Juan Villena said the president had an obligation to swiftly produce three Rolex watches for investigation, cautioning against their disposal or destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The raid “is for the purpose of search and seizure,” police said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities opened investigation early this month into Boluarte following a newspaper report about her wearing luxury watches of mysterious origin that had not been declared in public records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boluarte took office in December 2022,after former president Pedro Castillo tried to dissolve Congress and rule by decree, leading to his quick ouster and arrest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
