<\/figure>\n\n\nThe Olympic athlete is optimistic about capturing gold in her first-ever Olympic game marathon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I have to run Boston very well. I have to convince Athletics Kenya that I am the best. Up to now, we don\u2019t know who is going to represent the team because they\u2019re going to see how people do in the marathons before May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“For me, everything I\u2019m doing I\u2019m under pressure most importantly I\u2019m looking forward to the Olympics,” Obiri said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It will be very exciting for me. I’ve been to three Olympics and in two I’ve managed number two. I believe it will be the biggest opportunity for me to get the gold I’ve been looking for in many years as a marathoner. But what I know is, I must train for it,” she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obiri is fighting to be in the final list of three for the Kenyan team, against the reigning Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir, former world record holder Brigid Kosgei, Ruth Chepngetich, Rosemary Wanjiru and Sharon Lokedi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
