A man in Nyahururu has been arrested for allegedly stabbing to death an elderly woman he has been living with and gravely harming her grandson after a deadly brawl in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, a fight between 52-year-old Beatrice Nyandigo and John Mungai, 45, ensued in the house they both lived in located within the KCC area.

After Rose Osomo, 31, reported the incident to authorities, a team was dispatched to the homestead where they found the unfortunate aftermath of the brawl.

Nyandigo was found stabbed to death with injuries on her back and chest while her 10-year-old grandson was also found with stab wounds on the chest, face, arms, legs and abdomen.

“The grandson was rushed to Nyahururu county referral hospital where he is undergoing treatment though in serious condition,” read the report in part.

Mungai is said to have attempted to flee after the incident but he was chased by boda boda riders, forcing him to rush to the police station for safety.

“At the station, he fell down and officers manning the station noticed that he also had injuries on his chest. He was rushed to the same facility and undergoing treatment while being guarded,” said the police.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

A kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon has also been confiscated.
