Manchester United Defeats Manchester City

Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Grealish had put City ahead after jumping off the bench but late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford grabbed the win for United.

The equalizer from Fernandes was very controversial as Rashford was stood in an offside position and although he didn’t touch the ball he looked to be clearly impacting play.

The Red Devils have now won nine-straight games in all competitions and five-straight in the Premier League.

They have 38 points and are just one point behind second-place Manchester City and six points behind leaders Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag’s side are in this title race, while Pep Guardiola’s reigning champs have lost two games on the bounce to be dumped out of the League Cup and now beaten in the Manchester Derby. They just don’t look like themselves.

Uruguay Beats Ghana but Exit World Cup on Goals Scored.

Uruguay crashed out of the World Cup on Friday despite beating Ghana 2-0 after South Korea scored a late winner in the other Group H match to leapfrog the South American side.

Giorgian De Arrascaeta netted twice in quick succession in the first half, with 35-year-old Luis Suarez having a hand in both goals.

However, Suarez finished the match on the bench in tears as he news came in of South Korea’s last-gasp victory over Portugal, which meant the Asian side had moved above the Uruguayans into second place in Group H on goals scored.

Veteran striker Suarez had been at the centre of the pre-match build-up because of his infamous handball in the 2010 quarter-finals, which helped eliminate Ghana.

His name was booed loudly by the Ghana fans when it was read out by the stadium announcers and he got the same treatment every time he touched the ball.

He was also leading the protests when Ghana were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute.

Ghana never recovered from the sucker punch of that missed penalty and the quickfire De Arrascaeta brace, as Uruguay saw out the second half with relative comfort.

News of South Korea’s winner filtered into the stadium five minutes before the end of the match, forcing Uruguay onto the offensive once again.

However, the breakthrough never came and Uruguay exits the World Cup at the group stage for the first time since 2002.

It will come as some small comfort to Ghana that Luis Suárez, the villain from its 2010 clash, was reduced to tears at full time as Uruguay’s players lost their composure, surrounding and manhandling the officials as they walked off the pitch.
