Pregnant Teenager Hospitalised after being Attacked with Panga by Boyfriend in Machakos

Posted on October 7, 2024October 7, 2024 By Naomy Mbaka No Comments on Pregnant Teenager Hospitalised after being Attacked with Panga by Boyfriend in Machakos

An 18-year-old girl named Ndanu from Mbiuni, Mwala Subcounty, is recovering at Machakos Level 5 Hospital after a brutal panga attack allegedly carried out by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Brian Waita.

Ndanu, who is 23 weeks pregnant, suffered deep cuts to her neck and a broken arm during the assault, which took place after what seemed like a normal day together.

According to Ndanu, the couple had lunch, and Waita left briefly to fetch a donkey for market use.

Upon returning, as he washed his shirt, he suddenly attacked her, slashing her neck and arm.

In a state of shock, she managed to crawl to a bed and call for help.

A local man entered the house through the roof to unlock the door and assist her.

By the time police arrived, she had been rushed to Masii Level 3 Hospital before being transferred to Machakos Level 5 for further care.

Juliana Mwendwa, the Nursing Service Manager at Machakos Level 5, reported that Ndanu was unconscious upon arrival but is now stable and recovering in the orthopedic ward.

She expressed concern over the rising cases of gender-based violence in the county, calling on the community to take a stand against the issue.

Mwala OCPD Muthoni Wahome confirmed that police are actively pursuing Brian Waita, who remains at large. Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.
