Wizkid and Davido, two of Nigeria’s most well-known musicians, have captivated fans nationwide with their verbal sparring on social media.

Nigerian music fans are passionately divided into two camps due to the rivalry between these two afrobeat artists, who both have millions of fans worldwide: “Team Davido” and “Team Wizkid”.

The most recent argument started on Monday night when Wizkid’s followers urged him to release a new song on the social media platform X.

In retaliation, Wizkid shared a highly shared video of a man—possibly Davido—begging for a favour on his knees and asked his followers to do the same if they wanted him to release the new song.

Though there have been rumours that Davido, 31, could be the topic of the video, the

Davido retaliated to Wizkid’s provocation on Monday night, stating he refuses to squander his influence on “someone whose career was revived only to fade away again.”

This social media spat has not only garnered attention online but has also sparked debates among fans on various platforms and offline interactions.

As supporters of both artists continue to passionately defend their idols, popular music channel Hip TV has initiated a poll on X to determine the victor of this verbal bout.

Wizkid and Davido are undeniably two of Africa’s most celebrated music icons, boasting multiple MTV and BET awards and boasting collaborations with international megastars like Drake, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj.
