Former Gor Mahia Player Gatusso Charged with Murder of 3-Year-Old Child

Posted on July 23, 2024July 23, 2024 By Naomy Mbaka No Comments on Former Gor Mahia Player Gatusso Charged with Murder of 3-Year-Old Child

Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Okoth Ougo alias Gattuso and his co-accused Sylvia Aoko Odhiambo have been arraigned over the brutal murder of a 3-year-old child in April.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the two appeared before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on Tuesday facing charges of killing Pamela Atieno alias Scovian Maya at her home in Lucky Summer Estate, Ruaraka.

“Mr. Okoth with the help of his co-accused are alleged to have broken into the deceased’s parents rental house in Lucky Summer in absence of her parents and committed the heinous act. Her lifeless body was later discovered dumped in a nearby residence,” stated the ODPP.

Justice Muteti directed the pair to undergo a mental assessment and thereafter be presented in court on July 30, 2024, for plea-taking.

In a past appearance in April at Makadara Law Courts, Gattuso was charged with defilement and murder of the baby on the night of April 22, 2024, when the child’s mother had allegedly stepped out of their rental house.

Part of the charges read; “On 22104/2024 it was reported at Lucky Summer Police Station Vide OB No. 7/22/04/2024 through Assistant Chief Lucky Summer one Peris Muthoni that there was a body of unknown juvenile suspected to have been murdered and dumped.”

The court heard that police found the body behind the building where the deceased lived with her mother and her friend, and was half-naked with bruises on the neck.

According to her mother, Beatrice Awuor, she left her 3-year-old daughter at around 1am on April 22, and upon returning at around 4am, she did not find her in the house.

The investigating officer PC Gilbert Kiprotich said in a sworn affidavit, that they recovered a weapon suspected to have been used to break into the house, and that the suspect had started packing his belongings, allegedly trying to flee from the scene of the crime.

The court at the time granted the prosecution orders to detain the suspect for 21 days to complete investigations, with the accused not objecting to the prayer.

Gattuso is being held at the Industrial Area Remand Prison while his co-accused is at Langata Women’s Prison.
