Posted on September 27, 2024September 27, 2024 By Naomy Mbaka No Comments on Sections of Uhuru Highway,Langata Road,Haile Selassie Avenue to Be Closed on Sunday for Grand Bike Race.

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that sections of major roads in Nairobi will be temporarily closed on Sunday, September 29.

In a notice on Friday, September 27, KURA Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti disclosed that the affected roads include Langata Road, Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue, Bunyala Road and Lower Hill Road.

Kinoti stated that the temporary closure is due to the Grand Nairobi Bike Race, which will take place during the day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We wish to notify the general public that sections of Langata Road, Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue, Bunyala Road and Lower Hill Road will be closed on Sunday, 29th September, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This is due to the Grand Nairobi Bike Race scheduled to take place on Sunday, 29th September, 2024. We urge motorists to use alternative routes and to follow guide by traffic police and marshals,” Kinoti remarked.

According to Jubilee Insurance, the key organisers of the event, several roundabouts, including Madaraka roundabout, Donbosco roundabout, and Nyayo Stadium, will also be affected.

The insurance firm emphasised that adopting an active lifestyle is essential for long-term wellness, which is exactly what it aimed to promote by organizing the race.

It further disclosed that a medical team will be on the ground to take care of all cyclists during the race.

“We’re proud to announce that Nairobi West Hospital will be our official healthcare partner for the Jubilee Live Free Race! Their expert medical team will be present to ensure every cyclist is well taken care of.” Jubilee Insurance stated.

KURA stated that the race is aimed at promoting cycling as an alternative means of transport.
