A 45-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly defiled a 73-year-old woman in Tharaka Nithi County.

County police commander Zacchaeus Ngeno said that the incident happened in KK Ndagani location in Chuka Igambangombe Constituency.

Preliminary investigations show that the suspect, James Mutembei, visited the home of the victim.

She was with her husband at the time. The assailant then lied to the victim’s husband that he had been summoned by his mother.

Upon arriving at his mother’s home, the assailant returned to the victim’s home without the victim’s husband.

He found the victim alone at their home and raped her.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Chuka police station. He is set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
