Nairobi County Launches Massive Tree Planting Campaign to Combat Climate Change
Introduction:
In an effort to combat climate change and improve air quality, Nairobi Governor Hassan Joho launched a large-scale tree planting campaign on June 2, 2025.
Campaign Highlights:
The initiative aims to plant 100,000 indigenous trees across Nairobi’s parks, schools, and open spaces by the end of the year. Volunteers from schools, community groups, and private companies have joined the drive.
Environmental and Social Benefits:
Officials hope the campaign will reduce urban heat, improve biodiversity, and raise awareness on environmental conservation. Educational programs about the importance of trees will accompany the planting efforts.
