Several People Injured after Bus Overturns along Thika Road on Friday

Posted on November 8, 2024November 8, 2024 By Naomy Mbaka No Comments on Several People Injured after Bus Overturns along Thika Road on Friday

Several passengers were injured on Friday, November 8 afternoon after a bus overturned along Thika Road.

The bus overturned near the General Service Unit (GSU) Headquarters after being involved in an accident with a saloon car.

In the incident, the passenger side of the blue saloon car was damaged.

The bus overturned and blocked most parts of the road leading to traffic snarlup.

Well-wishers were filmed opening windows to help the passengers who were trapped inside the vehicle.

One lady was even captured lying on top of the side of the bus as she was unable to move.

Traffic officers alongside their colleagues from the GSU department were captured at the scene trying to monitor and coordinate the evacuations and rescue operations.

Those who were injured were rushed to neighbouring medical facilities for treatment.

Police have also commenced their investigations to establish what may have led to the accident.

There was another accident at the entrance of Thika Town from the main highway.

This was after a billboard believed to be weak collapsed on the road.

This blocked the entrance for hours. Police said no injuries were reported in the incident.

The accidents caused huge traffic jams on the road forcing some motorists to seek alternative routes.

Police advised the road users to use alternative routes.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), most causes of accidents this year have been attributed to human error. NTSA data shows that over 1,000 people have lost their lives in accidents this year.
