Kenya Launches Nationwide Digital ID Enrollment Drive

Introduction:
The Kenyan government officially launched a nationwide enrollment campaign for the new digital ID system on June 2, 2025, aiming to provide all citizens with secure, biometric identification.

Details of the Campaign:
This ambitious initiative is led by the National Registration Bureau in partnership with the Ministry of Interior. The new digital ID will replace the older paper-based national IDs and integrate services such as voter registration, social security, and access to government programs.

Government Goals and Public Impact:
Officials emphasize that digital IDs will enhance security, reduce fraud, and improve service delivery. Mobile enrollment units have been deployed across urban and rural areas to ensure accessibility. The public has been urged to participate early to avoid congestion as deadlines approach.
