Kenya:General Charles Muriu Kahariri Appointed New Chief of the Defence Forces.

Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri has been elevated to the rank of General and appointed as the new Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) by President William Ruto, the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.

Additionally, Major General John Mugaravai Ornenda has been named Vice Chief of the Defence Forces by President Ruto and raised to the rank of Lieutenant General.

Before the appointment, the Kenya Air Force Commander was Lieutenant General John Mugaravai Ornenda.

Two weeks after General Francis Ogolla and nine other military officers perished in a helicopter crash, General Kahariri was appointed.

Additionally, Major Generals Paul Owuor Otieno and Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed were posted to the Kenya Navy and Air Force, respectively, and given the rank of Commander by President Ruto.

On the advice of the Defence Council Chaired by Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, President Ruto has upheld the Council’s recommendations and made the following promotions, postings and appointments of KDF Officers;

Major General Thomas Njoroge Ng’ang’a has been posted to National Defence University and appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance.

Brigadier Peter Nyamu Githinji has been promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff, Air at National Defence College.
