The United Nations has warned that starvation and malnutrition levels in Gaza have reached their highest point since the war began.
According to UN agencies, worsening food shortages, damaged infrastructure, and restrictions on aid delivery have created a humanitarian emergency affecting millions of people.
Starvation at Record Highs
The UN reports that families in Gaza are surviving on minimal food, with children and vulnerable groups suffering the most. Malnutrition among children under five has surged to alarming levels, raising fears of a long-term health crisis.
“Starvation is being used as a weapon of war,” a UN spokesperson said. “Without immediate access to food and medical supplies, the situation will spiral into a full-scale famine.”
Calls for Urgent Humanitarian Access
Humanitarian organizations are urging for:
- Unrestricted aid corridors for food and medicine
- Ceasefire agreements to allow safe deliveries
- International funding to scale up relief operations
The UN has appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to prioritize civilian welfare and allow lifesaving assistance to flow freely into Gaza.
Outlook
With no end to the conflict in sight, the UN warns that Gaza’s population faces “unprecedented suffering.” Aid workers stress that unless access is granted quickly, the starvation crisis in Gaza will worsen further in the coming weeks.
