KeNHA Announces Closure of Nakuru-Eldoret Road at Timboroa Market.

Posted on May 2, 2024May 2, 2024 By Naomy Mbaka No Comments on KeNHA Announces Closure of Nakuru-Eldoret Road at Timboroa Market.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has announced the closure of Nakuru-Eldoret (A8) Road at Timboroa Market.

KeNHA said this follows the destruction by storm water which left a section of the road exhibiting signs of a possible collapse.

The Authority cautioned road users against any attempts to use this section of the road for safety reasons.

KeNHA advised motorists to use Nakuru-Eldama Ravine-Eldoret and Mau Summit-Kisumu as alternatives.

“Motorists have been rerouted to diversions within the Timboroa area,” the authority said in a statement.

“All road users are requested to exercise caution, avoid overlapping and follow directions from traffic marshals to ensure smooth flow of traffic,” KeNHA said.

The Authority assured motorists that it was working round the clock to restore traffic flow.

KeNHA said it remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage of goods and services.

On May 1, KeNHA also announced a 12-hour closure of Kedong Ranch – Suswa Road.

The Authority said the closure came after heavy debris and silt on the road covering a distance of two kilometres caused by persistent heavy rainfall.

KeNHA said the closure would facilitate smooth clearing operations.

“The Authority staff have been working tirelessly to clear the section. However, the continuous heavy rainfall has resulted in significant deposits of fresh silt and debris, rendering the road impassable,” KeNHA said on Wednesday.

The Authority cautioned road users against any attempts to use the section of the road in the interest of their safety.
