A somber mood engulfed Mugari village in Kiambere Ward, Embu County, after the body of a middle-age woman was discovered floating in a nearby river.
Villagers are yet to come to terms with the death of 44-year-old Jane Mwende Kilonzi, mother of seven, who was last seen on Tuesday evening.
The woman’s eyes had been gorged and the body had multiple injuries on the head and limbs.
Traces of blood could be seen several meters from the scene and blood stained rods.
A farmhand working n the neighbourhood is being sought as a suspect.
The man is said to have started a relationship with his boss following the death on her husband last year.
