Preparations are in high gear in Kisumu County for the burial of the Kisumu Mamboleo accident victims, set for Saturday, 16th August. The fatal crash, which occurred earlier this month, claimed several lives and left many others injured, sending shockwaves through the community.

The accident happened along the busy Mamboleo–Kibos road, a stretch notorious for frequent collisions. Eyewitnesses reported that the tragedy involved a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a lorry, with poor visibility and overspeeding cited as possible contributing factors. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but several victims succumbed to their injuries before reaching hospital.

According to local leaders, funeral arrangements are being coordinated with assistance from the county government, churches, and well-wishers. A joint memorial service will be held on Friday evening, ahead of the Saturday burials. Mourners from across Kisumu and neighbouring counties are expected to attend.

Families of the victims have spoken of the deep void left by their loved ones, describing them as hardworking community members whose lives were cut short unexpectedly. They have thanked members of the public who have offered financial and emotional support during this difficult time.

The Kisumu Mamboleo accident has also sparked renewed calls for road safety reforms in the region. Kisumu County transport officials have pledged to install more warning signs, enforce speed limits, and conduct awareness campaigns targeting both drivers and pedestrians.

Religious leaders have urged residents to honour the victims by embracing safer road practices, stressing that such tragedies can be avoided through collective responsibility. As the county prepares for the emotional send-off, the community remains united in grief, hope, and a shared call for change.
