Nairobi Records Heavy Rainfall as Rainy Season Begins.

The meteorological authority has officially announced the start of the long rainy season which is predicted to last until first few weeks of June.

As a result , farmers all throughout the nation have been instructed to begin planting.

It is expected the rains which started over the weekend, would get heavier,with April being the heaviest month.

“The long-awaited onset of the long rains is finally here, at least in the city and its environs,” remarks Dr. David Gikungu, Director of KMD

 “Heavy rains started pounding Nairobi over the weekend, and this is just the beginning of the anticipated long rainy season”

“Highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Nairobi,” Dr Gikungu said

Dr.Gikungu said that heavy rainfall are expected over many parts of the country in coming weeks and months.

124.2, 123.4, and 103.6 mm of rainfall were recorded at the Dagoretti, Wilson, and Moi Air Base meteorological stations
