Seven suspects in Bomet gang-rape incident caught on video that went viral were arrested.

Police in Bomet have arrested seven suspects behind a gang rape incident caught on video and shared on social media platforms.


According to Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa, the seven were flushed out of their hideouts in Olbutyo area in Chepalungu sub-county and are currently being interrogated at Chebunyo police station before being taken to court.

Ndiwa said two of the suspects arrested have been positively identified as Anderson Mutai aged 38, and Weldon Sigei 21 years old. The two allegedly participated in the heinous act.


The county police chief added that the video was shot last year and was released yesterday on social media platforms.

The lady in the incident is yet to be identified and traced.

“The matter was not reported to us. We are doing all we can to process the whole thing. The law doesn’t allow such content to be distributed or displayed anywhere,” added the officer.

Area chief Edwin Barusei said the main suspect, Anderson Mutai was hosting the recorded clip.
